In the park<\/p>\n

we talked about<\/p>\n

our love. For<\/p>\n

you it was over;<\/p>\n

for me, obligation<\/p>\n

is an untreatable tumor.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

We ate fruit<\/p>\n

and drank iced tea.<\/p>\n

You spat out<\/p>\n

a piece of cantaloupe.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

It landed on the grass<\/p>\n

and was encrusted<\/p>\n

by red ants<\/p>\n

within an hour.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

After you left,<\/p>\n

I sat on the bench<\/p>\n

and watched, brushing<\/p>\n

away tears so slight<\/p>\n

anyone else would think<\/p>\n

only dust was in my eyes.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

A drizzle started.<\/p>\n

Out of the horizon<\/p>\n

and into your pocket<\/p>\n

you take the sunshine<\/p>\n

from the day<\/p>\n

but never look<\/p>\n

at the light<\/p>\n

yourself.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The park had a gazebo<\/p>\n

and a statue of<\/p>\n

a general from<\/p>\n

a victorious war.<\/p>\n

The children,<\/p>\n

the elderly,<\/p>\n

the dog walkers<\/p>\n

departed.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Just me and the rain.<\/p>\n

Some ants drowned.<\/p>\n

Some escaped.<\/p>\n
