The way I remarked
\non the shadow and light
\nin a painting of
\nred and yellow roses
\nin a glass vase
\non a white table cloth
\nmade her acknowledge my
\nsensitivity and perception.
\nShe asked if I cried at movies.
\nHoney, I cry at breakfast–
\nsometimes it’s just how the
\nmilk changes the color of coffee
\nor splashes over the cliffs
\nand crevices of corn flakes–
\nand I’m lost in a void
\nredolent with sweet possibilities;
\nnot like real life, where
\nthe dreams that haven’t died
\nbecome nightmares.<\/p>\n
